RUN OFF mud water

What a time of year! The runoff.

Rain in the north delivers pretty consistently year to year with some bigger fluctuations. More rain and bigger wet events over the summer made for a prolonged run off period on the west coast of Australia’s cape.

A later runoff made for a fun challenge to find where the fish may be holding , or moving up the river to feed.
Wetlands and mudflats – usually very dry, were spitting out dirty muddy water from the land bringing into the river potential new feed. insects , grubs and other animals to name a few.

Barra and other fish have learnt to use these areas as a feeding zone. Particularly on a run out tide, causing some frantic epic sessions, like one had with WOZZA. Having to watch my back as lures darted everywhere along the dirty water line

We found the most effective lure to be the bomber – shallow diver , bright colours , with a ting ting rattle to help attract a feed. Imitate what might be falling into the river right?
